Know which boundary you are fencing
The line you can see on the ground and the line in the cadastral record are not always the same. Fencing on the wrong one is expensive to undo and can turn into a dispute with a neighbour.
Measure the corners, not the fence line
Record the corner points and let the straight runs follow. Walking the whole boundary with GPS adds small deviations that inflate the length you order.
