Check the file type

A file may look like KML because of its extension, but the content may be different or damaged. KMZ is a compressed package that can contain a KML file and sometimes icons or image resources. If the file extension changed during sharing, the phone may fail to open it.

Coordinate order

KML is commonly interpreted in WGS84 geographic coordinates, and coordinate order is usually longitude, latitude and altitude. If latitude and longitude are swapped, a point that belongs in Turkey can appear in a completely different location.
