What finding a parcel by phone is for
An owner, an estate agent, a farmer, a site crew or a surveyor wants to see roughly where the plot is before driving out. The phone is quick at exactly that: you see the parcel on the map, plan the approach, and once on the land you know where you stand relative to the reference line. Finding is not defining — the phone brings you to the right plot; it cannot tell you where the legal corners are, and no app changes that.
The practical flow
- Check the parcel against a reliable cadastral source (in Türkiye, the official parcel query).
- If a KML/KMZ exists, add it to MapLab Survey as a reference layer.
- Name the layer plainly: parcel_ref, cadastre_ref, scouting_boundary.
- Watch the phone's GPS accuracy as you approach; note tree cover and narrow valleys.
- Add photos and notes at corners, fence turns, roads, walls and anything ambiguous.
Expect a shift
Reference geometry and physical features rarely coincide exactly. The phone can drift a few metres, the KML may be generalised, and old ED50-era data does not sit where a modern TUREF measurement sits. Record where the line and the ground disagree instead of assuming one of them is wrong.
The legal boundary caution
The line on the screen is not, by itself, a legal boundary or a stake-out result. Establishing a parcel corner, resolving a boundary dispute or producing an official statement requires the authorised technical process — with control points, RTK and professional judgement where it matters.

Download the parcel layer and the base map before leaving. Most plots worth finding are where the signal is not.
