How to connect a Bluetooth RTK GNSS receiver to a phone

Pairing

Switch the receiver on, pair it over Bluetooth in the phone settings, then select the external source inside the field app.

The check almost everyone skips

Confirm the position on screen is coming from the receiver and not the phone's internal GPS. If the reported accuracy is still in metres, something is not connected.

Before the first point

Enter the real antenna height and measure a known point. Two minutes of checking saves repeating a full day of work.

When the link drops

Bluetooth disconnects as distance grows or the battery fades. Watch the connection indicator, and stop recording critical points the moment the position falls back to the phone's own source: the difference between the two can be several metres.
